A Brampton resident is facing charges after police uncovered a $35,000 drug stash during a weapons-related call on Manitoulin Island last month. Wikwemikong Tribal Police responded to the incident on February 25 at a location on the Lake Huron island, roughly 175 km south of Sudbury.
What started as a weapons investigation quickly escalated when officers discovered cocaine, fentanyl, cash, and signs of drug dealing. Taylen Wedemire from Brampton was arrested and slapped with charges, including possession of cocaine and an opioid for trafficking purposes, plus possession of property obtained by crime valued under $5,000.
Wedemire remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
