Brampton Lowers Flags to Half-Mast in Honour of D-Day Anniversaryinstagram.com

On June 6, 2025, the City of Brampton lowered flags at City Hall to half-mast to solemnly commemorate the 81st anniversary of D-Day, the pivotal World War II operation that marked the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe.

D-Day, which occurred on June 6, 1944, stands as a testament to the courage and sacrifice of Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy. Among them were brave Canadians who played a crucial role in this significant military campaign.

Mayor Patrick Brown reflected on the day’s significance, stating, “Today, we honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom on the beaches of Normandy. Their legacy continues to inspire our community and our nation.”

Regional Councillor Paul Vicente also paid tribute, noting, “The courage displayed on D-Day reminds us of the cost of freedom. We remember and thank those who served and their families for their immense sacrifices.”

The City of Brampton encourages residents to take a moment to reflect on the freedoms enjoyed today, made possible by the heroism of those who served during World War II.
