Homeowners in Brampton should prepare for an increase in their property tax bills, with a nearly 2% hike coming into effect as the first property tax payment for 2024 is due later this month.
As outlined in the December 2024 Brampton budget, there will be a 1.9% increase on the city’s portion of homeowners’ property tax bills. This is in addition to a 4.5% tax increase previously approved by the Region of Peel.
For the average property owner in Brampton, this means an additional $118 per household in property taxes this year compared to 2023, according to city officials.
This Brampton tax hike is compounded by the Region of Peel’s 4.5% increase, which will raise the typical residential property tax bill by $247 and the commercial/industrial property tax bill by $435.
