A Brampton firefighter escaped injury after falling from an elevated conveyor into a hopper while battling a two-alarm fire at a commercial property on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred on February 24 at a GFL waste station near Highway 407 and Torbram Road. According to Brampton fire Chief Nick Ruller, the firefighter was briefly trapped before being safely rescued.
“I am pleased to share that our firefighter is uninjured,” Ruller stated in an online post.
A freelance photographer using the username JCE reported that a “Mayday” distress call was issued following the fall. Emergency crews quickly responded to the situation, ensuring the firefighter was brought to safety without harm.
Brampton Fire and Emergency Services have not released further details about the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
