Brampton Fashion Student’s Christmas Scratch Ticket Wins $250,000

A simple Christmas gift has turned into a life-changing $250,000 lottery win for a Brampton woman, helping her plan for school, a wedding, a new business and a future home.

Taylor Scott, a 30-year-old fashion design student from Brampton, received a lottery ticket from her mother as a holiday gift. Although she has played lottery games occasionally since turning 18, she initially left the ticket sitting on her desk for several days before deciding to scratch it.

While working on a project, Scott said she had a sudden urge to check the ticket. Despite planning to wait, she eventually scratched it — only to realize she had won, though she didn’t immediately grasp the full amount.

It was after scanning the ticket on the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) mobile app with her mother that the pair discovered she had secured the top prize of $250,000 from the Instant 25 Days to Win game.

The winning ticket was purchased at Brampton Civic Variety inside Brampton Civic Hospital.

Scott said the unexpected windfall will go toward completing her education, building a wedding fund, launching her own fashion business and making a down payment on a home.

Instant 25 Days to Win was sold for $10 per ticket and offered a top prize of $250,000. OLG noted that it continues to promote responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program, encouraging players to participate safely and responsibly.
