Fines and Enforcement Costs

Speeding in Community Safety Zones comes with enhanced penalties:

  • Speeds between 1-19 km over the limit incur $5 per kilometre plus additional costs.
  • Fines escalate to $19.50 per kilometre for higher speeds.

The city invested heavily in this initiative, with $1.9 million allocated for a new ASE Processing Centre, $91,000 for new technology and hires, and $300,000 for a dedicated truck to manage ASE signage.

Despite the upfront costs, the city anticipates the ASE program will generate approximately $30 million annually, with projected expenses of $13 million, contributing significantly to Brampton’s infrastructure and safety programs.

City’s Road Safety Commitment

Brampton’s goal is clear: to make roads safer for all residents. With this latest batch of ASE cameras, the city is one step closer to achieving its vision of enhanced traffic enforcement and fewer accidents caused by speeding.

Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the locations and adhere to speed limits to ensure both safety and compliance.
