As cricket’s popularity surges in Brampton, the city is broadening opportunities for young players with the return and expansion of the Brampton Youth Cricket League in 2025. Responding to overwhelming demand and the program’s proven success, the City of Brampton is introducing a new spring session alongside the established summer league, providing youth with additional avenues to hone their skills, engage in competitive play, and embrace a sport deeply rooted in the community.
Recognized as Canada’s fastest-growing sport, cricket has prompted Brampton to bolster its commitment to accessibility through significant investments in infrastructure, programming, and leagues. The 2025 Youth Cricket League, sponsored by Centaur Products Inc., caters to players of all experience levels across three age categories—Under 9, Under 12, and Under 15. The program’s structured format blends practice sessions with gameplay, fostering both skill development and enjoyment.
The spring session kicks off April 29, 2025, with registration now open and spaces available. The summer session begins July 7, 2025, with registration opening June 2, 2025. Interested families can secure a spot by visiting brampton.ca/cricket.
Brampton’s dedication to cricket extends beyond the Youth League, underscored by the following initiatives:
- A $10-million investment over the next two years, allocated through the 2025 Budget, will enhance local cricket facilities with lighting and other upgrades.
- The city boasts 22 cricket sites, supporting a vibrant community of players and fans.
- In summer 2024, Brampton hosted the GT20 Tournament for the third consecutive year, drawing top international talent and global attention.
- Brampton’s cricket facilities serve 70 unique seasonal organizations, tournaments, and individuals, logging over 19,000 hours of field time annually.
- The City Lands project, a proposed redevelopment at Kennedy Road South near Highways 410 and 407, includes plans for a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose cricket facility at the CAA Sports and Entertainment Complex.
- In collaboration with the Peel District School Board, the City is developing a fully lit cricket facility with artificial turf wickets and player pavilions at Turner Fenton Secondary School.
These efforts reflect Brampton’s position as a leader in cricket development, fostering opportunities for youth to thrive in a sport that continues to captivate the region. For more information or to register for the 2025 Youth Cricket League, visit brampton.ca/cricket.
