Brampton is buzzing with excitement as the city kicks off Pollinator Week from June 16 to 22, celebrating the crucial role pollinators play in our environment and food systems. Sponsored by Toronto Pearson and led by the City of Brampton, the week features free events, activities, and resources designed to inspire residents to protect pollinators and biodiversity.
Key Events & Highlights:
- Clock Tower Lighting (June 16): Brampton City Hall will glow yellow to mark the start of Pollinator Week.
- Pollinator Plant Giveaway (June 21): Register for a free pollinator plant starter pack and a habitat sign at the Brampton Farmers’ Market. Plants include Black Eyed Susan, Butterfly Weed, and more.
- Pollinator Fun at the Farmers’ Market (June 21, 8 AM–1 PM): Learn about pollinators, pick up native plant booklets, and discover Brampton’s eco-initiatives like “Don’t Mow, Let It Grow.”
- Photo Contest (Deadline: June 25): Submit a photo that represents pollination for a chance to win a native plants gardening book.
- Children’s Colouring Contest (Deadline: June 22): Kids under 12 can enter to win a Brampton Parks Prize Pack.
- Conservation Drive Park Story Walk: Enjoy a self-guided stroll through “Give Bees a Chance” displayed along the trail.
- Tour the Bees Community Ride (June 22): Bike around Loafer’s Lake with BikeBrampton and enjoy a free BBQ afterward.
- Volunteer at Dearbourne Park (June 19, 6–9 PM): Join habitat maintenance efforts to support pollinators alongside TRCA and the City.
As a proud Bee City member, Brampton maintains over 700 pollinator-supporting garden beds and continues to lead local environmental efforts through partnerships and public engagement.
