Brampton, ON – The City of Brampton proudly marked the start of Ahmadiyya Muslim Heritage Month with a symbolic flag‑raising ceremony at Ken Whillans Square, underscoring the city’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and interfaith harmony. The event featured the unfurling of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community flag, accompanied by remarks from civic leaders and representatives of the Ahmadiyya community.
The ceremony, held in front of Brampton City Hall, saw dignitaries and community members gather to honour the cultural and social contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at. As the flag was raised, attendees observed a moment of reflection and anticipation for the month-long calendar of cultural events, educational initiatives, and community outreach activities planned across the city.
Mayor Patrick Brown posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Today, we proudly hosted a flag raising in Ken Whillans Square to recognize Ahmadiyya Heritage Month in Brampton. This month, we honour the contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community to our city.”
City of Brampton also shared its message on social media, stating, “Today at Ken Whillans Square, the City of Brampton held a flag‑raising ceremony to commemorate Ahmadiyya Heritage Month.”

The event reflects the unanimous motion passed by Brampton City Council, first proclaimed in July 2023, declaring July as Ahmadiyya Muslim Heritage Month. The proclamation celebrates the longstanding presence and positive impact of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Brampton and beyond, and emphasizes Canada’s values of multiculturalism and religious freedom.
Representatives from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, including leaders from local Imārats, joined civic officials in attendance. The ceremony commemorated not only a local milestone but also the global legacy of Ahmadi Muslims in promoting peace, charity, and service.
The flag raising officially launches a series of community events designed to foster education, youth involvement, interfaith dialogue, and civic engagement across Brampton. Events are expected to include public lectures, exhibitions, community service initiatives, and cultural performances celebrating the heritage and contributions of the Ahmadiyya community.
The City of Brampton encourages media, community members, and local organizations to participate in upcoming programs and to commemorate the values of unity, respect, and shared citizenship embodied by this observance.
