Brampton Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Free Annual Recreation Memberships for Seniors

In honor of Brampton’s 50th anniversary since its incorporation in 1974, the City is offering eligible seniors aged 70 and older free Annual Recreation Memberships starting June 1, 2024. This initiative is designed to enhance the well-being of local seniors by providing increased access to various recreational activities offered by the City of Brampton.

This initiative acknowledges the valuable contributions of our seniors and ensures they can stay healthy and enjoy recreational activities without financial barriers.” –

Previously, Brampton provided free Swim and Skate Memberships and Walking Track Memberships to residents aged 70 and older. The new 70+ Annual Recreation Membership will expand access, allowing seniors to enjoy a broader range of amenities and programs, including:

  • Fitness Centre Membership
  • Racquet Membership
  • Swimming and Skating Membership
  • Walking Track Membership
  • Most general interest programs
  • Fitness programs
  • Swimming and skating group lessons
  • Aquafit drop-ins
  • Fitness drop-ins
  • Public swims and skates
  • Shinny and shoot-around drop-ins
  • Sports drop-ins
  • Dance drop-ins
  • Most general interest drop-ins (some drop-ins may require additional fees)

Residents can visit any City of Brampton recreation centre to verify their eligibility. To sign up for a free 70+ Annual Recreation Membership, individuals must provide:

  • Proof of Brampton residency, such as a driver’s license or a letter with a home address
  • Proof of identity and age
  • Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency

Starting June 1, eligible residents who register for the 70+ Annual Recreation Membership will have immediate access to drop-in programs. From June 10, membership holders can register for summer programs at no additional cost, with these programs commencing in July 2024.

Brampton proudly hosts over 57,000 residents aged 70 and older. Understanding the vital connection between physical activity and overall health, the City remains committed to supporting residents in leading healthy and active lifestyles through its diverse recreational offerings.
