The City of Brampton has officially begun construction on what is being described as a “massive, world-class destination park” at Gore Meadows East, set to become the largest community hub on the city’s east side.
Located beside the Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library at 10150 The Gore Road, the ambitious project will feature an impressive range of new amenities, including:
- A premier cricket pitch and two community-level cricket fields
- Nine tennis courts, including three under a permanent dome and six with seasonal coverage
- Six pickleball courts
- Two junior soccer fields
- A skateboard park, fitness and cycling trails, naturalized green spaces, and a shaded playground
- A comfort station and picnic areas
“This is going to be the city’s biggest community centre hub,” said Regional Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor (Wards 9 and 10). “It will serve as a complete, inclusive space for sports, recreation, and community gatherings.”
Toor noted that a tennis academy offering professional coaching for kids will be part of the facility, along with drop-in hours for public use.
While the project was initially slated to begin in 2023 and be completed this year, construction only began in July 2025 due to procurement delays. The city now expects completion by fall 2026. A sign on-site still reflects the original timeline, though city officials have clarified that the scope of the project expanded after community consultations, prompting a request for additional funding in the 2025 budget.
“We had to go through a careful selection process to get the right contractors and best value,” Toor explained. “Now that we’ve secured everything, construction is in full swing.”
The city will also add 530 new parking spaces, in addition to the 551 existing spaces already available. Two other infrastructure upgrades are also underway: a new entrance from Castlemore Road and new traffic lights at the current entrance on The Gore Road to improve accessibility and safety.
To celebrate the start of construction, Toor and Councillor Harkirat Singh will host a community BBQ and groundbreaking ceremony on August 29, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Gore Meadows.
The area surrounding the site is one of Brampton’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods, with 20 active development applications that are expected to deliver more than 10,000 residential units and nearly 36,000 new residents.
“This is the best investment we could make for the future of our community,” Toor said. “Once completed, this park will be a premier destination for Brampton families.”
The total project cost is estimated at $39.5 million.
The Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library already boasts a range of outdoor features, including basketball courts, artificial turf, splash pad, amphitheatre, therapeutic garden, and fitness areas, introduced as part of a 2022 expansion.
