Black Box Recovered as Investigation Into Pearson Plane Crash Continues

Investigators have recovered the black box from the Delta Air Lines plane that crash-landed at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday, as authorities work to determine the cause of the fiery accident.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) confirmed that the flight data and cockpit voice recorders have been sent for analysis, though officials say it is too early to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Delta Flight 4819, carrying 80 people from Minneapolis to Toronto, crashed on landing at 2:30 p.m. Monday, flipping upside down as passengers rushed to evacuate while firefighters extinguished the flames.

Airport officials say the wreckage will remain on the runway for up to 48 hours while investigators complete their work. As a result, flight delays and disruptions are expected at Pearson in the coming days, and travellers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Delta Airlines reported on Tuesday that 19 of the 21 passengers taken to hospital have been released, while the remaining two are recovering with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation continues as authorities analyze flight data, weather conditions, and potential mechanical issues that may have contributed to the crash.
