Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot Among Retailers Affected by LG Electric Range Recall

More than 137,000 LG electric ranges sold across Canada have been voluntarily recalled due to a potential fire hazard, Health Canada announced on February 26.

The recall affects slide-in and freestanding LG electric ranges with front-mounted control knobs, which can be accidentally activated by humans or pets, potentially causing fires. The affected models were sold between May 2016 and June 2024 at major retailers including Best Buy, The Home Depot, Lowe’s, RONA, The Brick, Costco, and Leon’s, both in-store and online.

According to Health Canada, LG has received eight reports of incidents related to the unintentional activation of the knobs, including two minor injuries—one involving a cut and another a burn.

What to Do If You Own an Affected Range

LG urges customers to:
Keep children and pets away from the knobs.
Regularly check that the knobs are turned off when not in use.
Avoid placing objects on the range.

Consumers should immediately contact LG Electronics Canada for a free warning label and placement instructions. The ranges can still be used while waiting for the label.

If you own an LG electric range, check your model number inside the oven door or storage drawer and take action to ensure safety.
