Notable incidents in the past month include multiple cases involving young girls being sexually assaulted by adult men, many of whom were charged in connection with online luring or in-person assaults following app-based interactions.
Peel Regional Police continue to share public safety tips aimed at preventing assault-related crimes. These include:
- Avoid opening your door to strangers; speak through a closed, locked door.
- Plan safe travel routes and avoid dark or isolated areas.
- Stay near open, populated places like police stations and 24-hour stores.
- Travel in pairs when possible and lock your vehicle immediately upon entry.
- If your belongings are targeted, prioritize personal safety over resisting.
- If followed, avoid heading home—instead go to the nearest public or police facility.
Authorities urge residents to remain alert and take preventive measures as they work to address the rise in violent incidents.
