Armed Robberies Surge Across Peel: 44 Incidents in One Month Shake Mississauga and Brampton”

The wave of robberies across Mississauga and Brampton continues to alarm residents and businesses, with 44 robberies reported between September 26 and October 26, 2025, according to Peel Regional Police data.

Of the total incidents, 21 involved firearms, 10 involved other weapons, and 13 were classified as ‘other’, indicating a persistent trend of armed crimes across the region. Police confirm that 17 cases have been solved, while 27 remain under active investigation, highlighting the ongoing challenge in addressing this violent crime surge.

In this one-month period, Brampton saw 24 robberies, while Mississauga reported 20, with several of them taking place in commercial areas and along major routes. The most frequently targeted zones include Main Street and Queen Street in Brampton, and Dundas Street, Dixie Road, and Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga—each recording multiple incidents.

Recent weeks have seen particularly shocking cases: a jewelry store in Mississauga was hit in another smash-and-grab, a bank robbery in Brampton led to an arrest, and a Mississauga gym robbery ended with a getaway crash that injured four children. These events have left many in the community anxious about safety and the increasing brazenness of criminals.

Police are urging both residents and business owners to take preventive measures. Recommendations include maintaining working surveillance systems and proper lighting, reducing cash kept on premises, providing robbery prevention training to staff, and ensuring clear visibility across store aisles and windows.

“Safety begins with awareness,” Peel police said in a statement, reminding citizens to remain alert and report suspicious activity immediately.

With gun-related robberies now representing nearly half of all reported incidents, many in Peel Region are calling for stronger policing strategies and community action to curb what feels like an escalating threat to public safety.
