A 27-year-old Toronto man is facing multiple charges after allegedly pointing a firearm at someone and leading police on a chaotic early morning pursuit through downtown streets.
According to Toronto Police, the incident began around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday in the King Street West and Portland Street area, where the suspect reportedly brandished a gun. Officers quickly located the suspect’s vehicle, but the driver allegedly refused to comply with commands to exit the car.
Police say the motorist then reversed the vehicle, striking a scooter and another car, before fleeing down an alleyway and crashing into a parked vehicle.
Officers pursued the fleeing vehicle and eventually arrested the suspect.
Mrunmay Ukey, 27, of Toronto, has been charged with failing to stop for police and dangerous operation of a vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 19.
