Amarjot Sandhu Seeks Re-Election in Brampton West – A Proven Track Record of Delivering for the Community

As the provincial election on February 27 approaches, Amarjot Sandhu, the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party candidate for Brampton West, is campaigning for re-election on a platform of continued growth and community investment. With a proven track record of delivering infrastructure projects, improving public safety, and expanding healthcare services, Sandhu is asking voters to trust his leadership for another term.

Since being elected as MPP in 2018, Sandhu has been a vocal advocate for Brampton’s development, securing critical investments that have transformed the community. His efforts have focused on addressing long-standing challenges and ensuring Brampton West receives its fair share of provincial resources. Key achievements during his tenure include:

Healthcare Expansion:

  • Peel Memorial’s Second Hospital: Construction is set to begin in April 2024, marking a significant step toward reducing emergency room wait times and improving access to healthcare services.
  • TMU School of Medicine: Brampton’s first medical school, scheduled to open in 2025, will train future doctors locally, addressing the region’s healthcare workforce needs.

Transportation and Connectivity:

  • Highway 413: Construction begins this year, promising to ease congestion and improve connectivity for Brampton commuters.
  • Hazel McCallion LRT: This transit expansion will enhance mobility by connecting Brampton to Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
  • One Fare Program: A new initiative to reduce transit costs for Brampton residents traveling across the region.

Public Safety and Education:

  • Peel Regional Police 23rd Division: Set to open in 2026, this new division will enhance public safety and ensure faster emergency response times.
  • New Schools: Malala Yousafzai Public School has already opened, and Mount Pleasant Secondary School is scheduled to welcome students in 2025.
  • Classroom Cellphone and Vaping Ban: Policies aimed at creating a healthier and more focused learning environment for students.

Addressing Rising Insurance Costs:

When asked about the rising cost of auto insurance in Brampton, Sandhu acknowledged the concerns of residents and outlined his commitment to finding solutions. “I understand the frustration many Brampton families feel about rising insurance rates. Our government is actively working with industry stakeholders to explore ways to make insurance more affordable and accessible for all Ontarians,” he said.

Sandhu emphasized that improving road safety and reducing accidents through infrastructure investments, such as Highway 413 and the Hazel McCallion LRT, will help address one of the root causes of high insurance premiums. “By reducing congestion and improving traffic flow, we can create safer roads, which will ultimately lead to lower insurance costs for Brampton residents,” he added.

As an entrepreneur, community advocate, and experienced MPP, Sandhu has consistently championed Brampton’s interests at Queen’s Park. His leadership has been instrumental in securing billions of dollars in infrastructure funding, ensuring that Brampton West residents receive the services and support they deserve.

“Over the past four years, we have worked tirelessly to deliver on our promises and bring real change to Brampton West,” Sandhu said. “This election is about keeping the momentum going. With your support, we will continue to build hospitals, improve transit, and enhance public safety for a stronger, more prosperous Brampton.”

Sandhu is urging residents to vote for proven leadership on February 27, emphasizing his commitment to building a brighter future for Brampton West.
