A small number of passengers on an Air Canada flight from Mexico entered Canada without clearing customs after landing at Ottawa International Airport on Sunday night, the airline confirmed.
Air Canada flight 1413 arrived in Ottawa from Cancún shortly before 8 p.m. According to the airline, some travellers were “inadvertently misdirected when leaving the aircraft” at the gate at Ottawa International Airport.
Air Canada said it immediately notified the Canada Border Services Agency once the error was discovered and redirected passengers toward the customs hall. However, a small number of travellers were not properly processed.
The airline said it is working to ensure those passengers are contacted and advised customers with questions to reach out to the Canada Border Services Agency. CBSA has been contacted for comment.
