Canadian border officers have seized $30,000 in suspected illicit cash from a passenger who arrived in Mississauga at Toronto Pearson International Airport on a private flight from the Caribbean.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) confirmed that the individual landed on June 19 aboard a private jet from the Turks and Caicos Islands. During a routine inspection, CBSA officers discovered the undeclared cash—comprising both Canadian and U.S. currency—believed to be the proceeds of criminal activity.
“The CBSA processes all travellers entering Canada, whether arriving on commercial or private aircraft,” officials stated in an email to INsauga.com.
Despite the seizure, the traveller was not arrested. Authorities emphasized that inspections of private flights are standard protocol to uphold border security and financial regulations.
The CBSA did not disclose further details about the individual or whether an investigation is ongoing.
