T he PSB Seniors Club Canada marked National Flag Day with a spirited celebration, bringing together over 100 seniors for a day of patriotism, cultural pride, and community wellness. The event highlighted Canada’s core values of diversity, unity, and peace, reinforcing the deep admiration and respect the community holds for the nation.

The celebration featured vibrant cultural performances, including Gidha and Bhangra dances, along with engaging activities and a feast of traditional cuisine. Seniors actively participated in discussions emphasizing the significance of the Canadian flag as a unifying symbol that fosters a harmonious and inclusive society.
National Flag Day commemorates the historic adoption of Canada’s iconic Maple Leaf flag on February 15, 1965—a powerful emblem of the nation’s commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and democracy.

“Our flag represents more than just a national symbol—it embodies our collective spirit of resilience, peace, and progress. This event not only celebrates our pride in Canada but also strengthens the bond among seniors, reminding us that together, we are stronger,” said Gian Paul, Vice President of PSB Seniors Club Canada.

MP Shafqat Ali (Brampton Centre) commended the seniors’ dedication to community engagement in a special message:
“National Flag Day is a time to reflect on the strength of our great nation and the principles of freedom, equality, and peace that define us as Canadians. The PSB Seniors Club embodies these values through its unwavering commitment to senior welfare, community participation, and cultural preservation.”

G.S. Khakh, Chairperson of PSB Seniors Club Canada, emphasized the unity the flag represents:
“Our flag is more than a national emblem—it is a reflection of the values of inclusivity, peace, and togetherness. Today, as we celebrate National Flag Day, we recognize the opportunities Canada provides and the strength of our diverse communities.”
Paul Vicente, Regional Councillor, Brampton, also extended his support:
“Our flag is a symbol of hope, peace, and opportunity for all. I commend PSB Seniors Club for bringing the community together to celebrate this important day and for their continued efforts in supporting seniors.”

Promoting Senior Health and Well-being
Beyond celebrating patriotism, the event also focused on senior health and well-being. A special health seminar was conducted by WellFort Community Health Services on foot care therapy and diabetes management, equipping seniors with essential health education.
A live A1C sugar test clinic provided on-the-spot glucose level checks, enabling seniors to monitor their health and receive expert guidance on diabetes prevention and control.
Ram Singh Daind, Director of PSB Seniors Club, expressed his gratitude for the club’s ongoing initiatives:

The event concluded with cultural performances, music, and a festive meal, creating an atmosphere of joy, camaraderie, and national pride.
