Ford’s PCs Maintain Strong Double-Digit Lead as Ontario Election Nears

With just over a week until Ontario voters head to the polls, Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives (PCs) continue to hold a double-digit lead over their nearest rivals, according to the latest Nanos Research survey.

The survey, conducted on February 15, 16, and 18, shows 45.8% of decided voters support the PCs, compared to 29.7% for the Liberals, 15.9% for the NDP, and 6.7% for the Green Party. Among all respondents, including undecided voters, the PCs lead with 41.4%, followed by 26.8% for the Liberals, 14.3% for the NDP, and 6.1% for the Greens.

“Progressive Conservatives hold onto a double-digit lead with less than 10 days left in the provincial election campaign,” said Nik Nanos, Chief Data Scientist with Nanos Research. Since nightly tracking began on February 6, Ford’s support among decided voters has remained stable, fluctuating between 43.8% and 46.4%.

Doug Ford also holds a commanding 17-point lead over Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie in the race for Ontario’s preferred premier. The survey found:

  • 41.2% of respondents chose Ford as their top pick for premier
  • 24.4% backed Crombie
  • 13.9% supported NDP Leader Marit Stiles
  • 7.5% preferred Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner

The PCs lead across all regions in Ontario, though Toronto remains a close battle:

  • In Toronto, 36.9% support the PCs, while 34.8% back the Liberals, 21.6% support the NDP, and 4.6% favor the Greens.
  • In the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) as a whole, 54.9% of voters back the PCs, compared to 26.3% for the Liberals, 11.7% for the NDP, and 6.4% for the Greens.

With the February 27 election fast approaching, the PCs remain in a strong position, but Toronto’s competitive race and undecided voters (9.7%) could still impact the final outcome.

The Nanos Research tracking poll has a margin of error of ±3.2%, 19 times out of 20.
