The City of Brampton has secured over $106 million in annual transit funding through the newly established Canada Public Transit Fund (CPTF), marking a historic investment in the city’s public transit infrastructure.
The funding, announced today by the Honourable Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, and Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, will provide $106,239,450 over ten years (2026–2036) to enhance Brampton’s transit system. This investment will support infrastructure upgrades, fleet modernization, and the development of transit-oriented communities while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing climate change.

The Canada Public Transit Fund is the largest public transit investment in Canadian history, designed to meet the needs of communities of all sizes, including large urban centers, mid-sized cities, and rural, remote, northern, and Indigenous communities. Brampton’s allocation through the CPTF’s Baseline Funding stream will ensure long-term, predictable support for the city’s growing transit needs.
