The City of Brampton is inviting residents to the unveiling of its second annual Catchbasin Art Program, titled “From Streets to Streams,” on October 5, 2024. This creative initiative aims to raise awareness about the city’s stormwater system through vibrant art murals on catchbasins. The murals highlight how stormwater flows from the streets to local waterways, picking up pollutants like pet waste and litter along the way.
This year’s project features six local artists who have collaborated with the city to design 12 unique murals that will be displayed on catchbasins throughout Brampton’s streets and parks. The unveiling will coincide with the Tiny Forest Community Tree Planting Event, hosted by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, as part of the Bramalea Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP). The event will take place at Eastbourne Park, across from the Earnscliffe Recreation Centre, from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Attendees can visit the city’s booth to view the artwork, participate in pollution prevention activities, and enjoy kid-friendly entertainment with prizes. Additionally, the City of Brampton will showcase the artists and their work on its Brampton Grow Green social media channels in the weeks leading up to the unveiling. Residents are also encouraged to nominate catchbasins in their neighborhood for future art installations.
