The energy and enthusiasm of young leaders were on full display as Kamal Khera, Canada’s Minister of Diversity, Inclusion, and Persons with Disabilities, attended the One Young World Summit 2024 in Montreal. Khera, who has represented Brampton West since 2015, was honored with the prestigious Young Politician of the Year Award at the summit, a recognition of her impactful contributions to Canadian politics and her advocacy for youth empowerment.
In her acceptance speech, Khera emphasized the importance of including young voices in politics, stating, “This award is a testament to the power of youth voices and the critical need to ensure their inclusion in shaping our future.” She praised the summit for bringing together young leaders from across the globe to collaborate on solutions for today’s pressing challenges, especially in areas of diversity, inclusion, and equity.

The One Young World Summit, held from September 18-21, brought together thousands of young leaders from around the world. Khera shared the stage with other inspiring leaders and discussed her work in ensuring that Canadian society becomes more inclusive and equitable. Her background as a former nurse, coupled with her political journey, has positioned her as a champion for a more compassionate and just society.
