The much-anticipated Community Garba event is set to light up Chinguacousy Park on September 20, 2024, from 7 PM to 11 PM. This exciting celebration, organized in collaboration with Humans for Harmony and sponsored by Genesis Brampton and RBC invites residents to immerse themselves in the vibrant tradition of Garba, a cultural dance from Gujarat, India. The night promises lively performances, delicious Indian cuisine, and activities for the whole family, celebrating both community and culture.
Garba, a joyful and rhythmic dance, is part of the Navratri festival, and Brampton’s event will bring this cultural tradition to life in spectacular fashion. Participants are encouraged to don their finest Garba attire and experience the festive energy of the evening.
“The Community Garba event is a wonderful opportunity for residents of all backgrounds to come together and celebrate the rich cultural tradition from Gujarat. We are a living mosaic of vibrant culture in Brampton, and have a large dynamic Gujarati community in the city. Events like these showcase the unity and diversity of our community,” said Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton. “I’ve had the opportunity to visit Gujarat nine times to build our relationship with the community, and I encourage everyone to join us for an evening of dance, music, and celebration as we embrace the spirit of Garba and the joy it brings.”
The event is free to attend and will feature mouth-watering food options from local vendors, stunning stage performances, and exciting family-friendly activities.

Ketan Desai, a prominent community leader, shared his enthusiasm: “Garba is more than just a dance; it’s a way to bring people together. It’s a celebration of our shared culture and the joy of community. We are proud to see Brampton embrace this beautiful tradition and look forward to an unforgettable night.”
“We are thrilled to bring back this annual celebration. It’s a time for families and communities to come together and embrace the diversity that makes Brampton so special,” added Gian Paul, Chairperson Flower City Friends Club , a community organization from Brampton.
