BRAMPTON, ON — September 2, 2026 — The Rose is celebrating two decades as one of Brampton’s leading cultural destinations with a free, full-day community birthday celebration featuring live entertainment, family activities and a special anniversary concert.
The celebration, titled “20 Years in Bloom,” will take place on Saturday, September 19, inviting residents to mark the theatre’s 20th anniversary and recognize the artists, audiences, staff, volunteers, community partners and patrons who have contributed to its success since it opened in 2006.
Over the past two decades, The Rose has welcomed more than three million visitors and hosted over 5,000 performances and events. The downtown Brampton theatre has become an important part of the city’s arts and cultural community, providing a stage for local, national and international artists while creating opportunities for Brampton performers, producers and community organizations.
The anniversary celebration will begin with a free open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Rose, located at 1 Theatre Lane in downtown Brampton. Visitors will have an opportunity to explore the theatre, participate in family-friendly activities, browse an artist market and enjoy live performances throughout the day.
The daytime entertainment will include the Gather Round Singers, Jumblies Theatre’s inclusive community choir, as well as Dan Brown’s Wild Symphony, a family-friendly musical experience being presented in partnership with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
The celebrations will continue at 6 p.m. when audiences gather on the Mainstage for The Homegrown, a special concert marking The Rose’s 20th anniversary.
Hosted by This Is Brampton alum Keesha Brownie, the concert will showcase Brampton talent including The Wild Woman and TC Spades. The program will also feature a dance performance curated by Rachel Chen, with JUNO Award-winning artist Kirk Diamond headlining the anniversary concert.
Both the daytime open house and The Homegrown concert are free. However, tickets for the evening concert must be reserved in advance online, although some tickets may also be available at the door depending on availability.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown described The Rose as an important part of Brampton’s cultural mosaic that has brought artists, audiences and communities together through live performance for the past 20 years.
Brown said the anniversary provides an opportunity to recognize the many people who helped shape the theatre while celebrating its continuing role in showcasing Brampton’s creativity and talent. He encouraged residents to participate in the September 19 celebration.
Regional Councillor Rowena Santos, who represents Wards 1 and 5 and chairs Brampton’s Community Services Section, reflected on the importance of the theatre from her own perspective as a musician and performer.
Santos said The Rose has spent two decades creating opportunities for artists to perform while providing memorable experiences for audiences and contributing to the growth of Brampton’s arts and culture community.
Jocelyn Johnston, Manager of Theatres for the City of Brampton, said the 20th birthday celebration is also an opportunity to thank everyone who has been part of The Rose’s journey.
She said the community celebration will bring residents together through free performances and family activities before culminating with The Homegrown anniversary concert, which will showcase artists connected to Brampton and celebrate the talent growing within the city.

With more than three million visitors and thousands of performances behind it, the September 19 celebration will not only look back at The Rose’s first two decades but also mark the beginning of its next chapter as a major cultural venue in Brampton.
