PSB Leadership Connects with NRI Community and Retired Bankers During Brampton Meet

Over 100 attend NRI Meet in Brampton; PSB Seniors Club Association highlights stronger ties between the Bank, NRIs and its retired employees

BRAMPTON, ON — August 2026 — Punjab & Sind Bank (PSB) Managing Director & CEO Swarup Kumar Saha and General Manager Chaman Lal Shienhmar interacted with the NRI community and retired PSB employees during a well-attended NRI Meet in Brampton, organized with the association and support of PSB Seniors Club Association, Canada.

The senior PSB executives were in Canada in connection with the visit of Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs, Government of India, whose Toronto engagements formed part of efforts to strengthen economic and financial relations between India and Canada.

More than 100 guests attended the Brampton NRI Meet, including over 50 retired Punjab & Sind Bank employees associated with PSB Seniors Club Association, Canada.

The visiting executives received a warm welcome from the Association. Harcharan Singh, President of PSB Seniors Club Association, Canada, welcomed MD & CEO Swarup Kumar Saha and General Manager Chaman Lal Shienhmar with bouquets.

As a token of respect and appreciation, Gian Paul, Vice President of the Association, presented a memento to MD & CEO Swarup Kumar Saha, while Sukhdev Bedi, Director, presented a memento to General Manager Chaman Lal Shienhmar.

Gurcharan Singh Khakh Welcomes PSB Leadership

In his inaugural remarks, Gurcharan Singh Khakh, Chairperson of PSB Seniors Club Association, Canada, warmly welcomed the visiting senior executives and emphasized the importance of holding regular NRI Meets outside India.

He said such interactions help bridge the geographical distance between the Bank and its overseas customers by providing opportunities for direct dialogue, better understanding of NRI banking requirements and resolution of practical issues.

He also highlighted the role of PSB Seniors Club Association in maintaining a strong relationship between retired PSB employees settled in Canada and their parent institution. He stressed that retired employees continue to carry a deep emotional connection with the Bank and possess extensive professional experience, community connections and goodwill that can contribute to PSB’s continued growth.

GM Chaman Lal Highlights PSB’s Journey and Contribution of Employees

Addressing the gathering, General Manager Chaman Lal Shienhmar spoke about the history and journey of Punjab & Sind Bank and acknowledged the contribution made by generations of employees in building and strengthening the institution.

He emphasized that the Bank’s progress has been the result of the collective efforts of its employees, customers and stakeholders over the years.

He also recognized the importance of the NRI community and retired PSB employees, noting that their continued association, experience and goodwill remain valuable to the Bank. He appreciated the efforts of PSB Seniors Club Association in bringing former employees together and maintaining their connection with the Bank even after retirement and settlement abroad.

MD & CEO Swarup Kumar Saha Emphasizes Growth and NRI Relationships

In his address, MD & CEO Swarup Kumar Saha spoke about Punjab & Sind Bank’s development, modernization and continuing efforts to strengthen customer service and expand its business.

He highlighted the importance of the NRI community to the Bank, emphasizing the need to maintain stronger relationships with overseas customers and understand the changing requirements of Indians living abroad.

Saha also acknowledged the significant contribution of retired PSB employees who served the Bank over several decades. Many of today’s retirees joined PSB during an earlier phase of its development and devoted their professional lives to building its business, customer base and reputation.

He expressed appreciation for their contribution and emphasized the importance of preserving the bond and sense of belonging between Punjab & Sind Bank and its former employees.

Saha appreciated the work being undertaken by PSB Seniors Club Association, Canada, in keeping retired employees connected, providing a platform for interaction and helping strengthen the relationship between the Bank and the NRI community.

Memorandum of Retirees’ Issues Submitted to PSB Leadership

An important part of the NRI Meet was the formal submission of a memorandum highlighting the concerns, difficulties and demands of Punjab & Sind Bank retirees settled in Canada to MD & CEO Swarup Kumar Saha and General Manager Chaman Lal Shienhmar.

The memorandum highlighted various practical banking and service-related issues being faced by retired PSB employees while residing abroad and requested the Bank to take appropriate measures for their resolution.

The PSB Seniors Club Association emphasized that resolving these issues would make it easier for retired employees to maintain and operate their banking relationship with PSB from Canada and would further strengthen their sense of belonging to the institution they served for many years.

The Bank’s senior executives gave a positive response to the submission and assured the Association that the issues raised in the memorandum would be examined for appropriate resolution.

Building a Stronger PSB–NRI Bond

The NRI Meet underlined the importance of maintaining regular communication between PSB leadership and its overseas customers. Participants emphasized that such meetings become even more meaningful when the issues and suggestions raised during the interaction are followed by continued communication and appropriate action.

The gathering also highlighted the unique role that retired PSB employees can continue to play. With decades of banking experience, professional contacts and strong community networks, retired employees can serve as goodwill ambassadors and an important bridge between Punjab & Sind Bank and the wider NRI community.

Concluding the interaction, MD & CEO Swarup Kumar Saha thanked PSB Seniors Club Association, Canada, its office-bearers, retired PSB employees and members of the NRI community for the warm reception and enthusiastic participation.

He expressed appreciation for the continued affection and sense of belonging shown by former employees towards Punjab & Sind Bank and thanked the retirees for their contribution in helping build the institution over the years.
