Brampton, Ontario – Promoting healthy living, active aging, and overall wellbeing among senior citizens, the Women’s Wing of the Flower City Friends Club (FCFC) successfully launched its Weekly Seniors Yoga and Wellness Program on May 30, 2026, at the beautiful backyard venue of 86 Showboat Crescent, Brampton. The inaugural session attracted more than 50 women members, who enthusiastically participated in the morning yoga class.
The session was conducted by Ms. Anuja Kabuli, a Certified Yoga Instructor and Director of FCFC, who guided participants through a series of gentle yoga exercises, stretching techniques, breathing practices, and relaxation methods specially designed for seniors. The program focused on improving flexibility, balance, mobility, mental wellness, and overall physical fitness.
The event was hosted by Mrs. Rupi Brar, who opened her backyard to provide a peaceful and welcoming environment for participants. The natural outdoor setting created the perfect atmosphere for relaxation, meditation, and physical activity.
Due to the overwhelming response and enthusiasm shown by participants, FCFC announced that the yoga session will now become a weekly initiative, providing members with a regular opportunity to improve their health, fitness, and overall wellbeing through guided yoga practice.

During the session, Anuja Kabuli highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life.
“Yoga is not only a form of exercise; it is a complete wellness practice that strengthens the body, calms the mind, improves balance, and helps seniors maintain their independence and quality of life. Even a few minutes of yoga each day can make a significant difference in overall health and wellbeing. I am delighted that FCFC has decided to make this a weekly program for the benefit of our members,” said Anuja Kabuli.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative and the opportunity to engage in healthy activities with fellow members.
Amer Bhandhoal, a member of Flower City Friends Club and participant in the yoga session, remarked:
“This was an excellent and refreshing experience. The exercises were easy to follow, the atmosphere was relaxing, and it was wonderful to see so many women participating together. Programs like these encourage seniors to stay active, social, and healthy. I look forward to attending the weekly sessions.”
Yoga has become increasingly recognized as one of the most beneficial forms of physical activity for seniors. Regular practice can help reduce stress, improve flexibility, strengthen muscles, enhance balance, support cardiovascular health, improve posture, and contribute positively to mental wellbeing. Health professionals around the world continue to recommend yoga as an effective tool for healthy aging.
Flower City Friends Club has consistently promoted programs and activities that support seniors’ physical, mental, and social wellbeing. Through health seminars, educational workshops, recreational outings, cultural programs, wellness activities, and fitness initiatives, FCFC continues to provide opportunities for seniors to remain engaged, active, and connected within the community.
At the conclusion of the session, participants enjoyed snacks and refreshments generously provided by Rupi Brar, who thanked everyone for their participation and support.
“I am truly grateful to Anuja Kabuli for volunteering her time and expertise and to all the members who participated in this wonderful event. The response has been tremendous, and I am pleased that this yoga program will now continue on a weekly basis.
