Brampton Rolls Into Bike Month with Festivals, Community Rides and Citywide Cycling Events

The Brampton is gearing up for a summer of cycling, community connection, and outdoor adventure as Bike Month returns with a packed lineup of events designed to encourage residents of all ages to get active and explore the city on two wheels.

Throughout June, Brampton will host a variety of cycling festivals, guided rides, educational programs, and workplace initiatives aimed at promoting active transportation, healthy living, and environmental sustainability.

City officials say Bike Month reflects Brampton’s growing commitment to building safer, healthier, and more connected communities while encouraging residents to discover parks, neighbourhoods, and natural spaces through cycling.

The celebrations officially begin with the annual Brampton Bike Festival on May 31 at Chinguacousy Park near the Sandra Hames Curling Centre.

The free family-friendly event will feature bike safety checks, light tune-ups, children’s bike parades, obstacle courses, cycling education sessions, e-scooter demonstrations, live entertainment, food trucks, vendors, giveaways, and opportunities for residents to connect with local cycling organizations.

Organizers say the festival is intended to introduce more residents to Brampton’s growing cycling infrastructure while making cycling accessible and enjoyable for newcomers and experienced riders alike.

One of the most anticipated events during Bike Month is the annual Bike the Creek ride scheduled for June 13.

The large-scale cycling event attracts thousands of participants each year and showcases scenic creek corridors, parks, trails, and natural landscapes throughout Brampton and neighbouring communities. The event encourages riders to experience the city through active transportation while connecting with fellow cycling enthusiasts.

Volunteer-led Community Bike Rides will also continue throughout the summer and into the fall, with rides scheduled on multiple dates beginning May 31 and continuing through October.

The free guided rides are organized by volunteers from Brampton’s Active Transportation Advisory Committee and are designed to help residents safely explore local trails, neighbourhoods, and community destinations while promoting cycling confidence and awareness.

In addition to organized events, the city is encouraging residents to take advantage of Brampton’s expanding trail network, which connects parks, recreational spaces, neighbourhoods, and natural areas across the municipality.

Officials note that many of the city’s trails include paved pathways and navigational signage to support cyclists, walkers, runners, and other outdoor users looking to explore different parts of the community.

Bike Month will also include Bike to Work initiatives encouraging employers and employees to incorporate cycling into their daily commutes.

Businesses throughout Brampton are being invited to organize workplace cycling activities and support employees who choose to ride to work during selected weeks in June as part of broader efforts to promote healthy and environmentally friendly commuting options.

Mayor Patrick Brown said Bike Month is an opportunity for residents to reconnect with their city while supporting healthier lifestyles and stronger communities.

“Bike Month is a chance for residents to get outside, explore Brampton and experience how cycling can support healthier, more connected communities,” Brown said.

He added that whether residents are commuting to work, participating in guided rides, or spending time outdoors with family and friends, cycling offers a unique way to experience Brampton’s neighbourhoods and public spaces.

As cycling continues growing in popularity across the Greater Toronto Area, Brampton’s Bike Month programming reflects a larger push toward sustainable transportation, active recreation, and community wellbeing.

City officials hope the month-long initiative will inspire more residents to incorporate cycling into their daily lives while discovering the benefits of healthier transportation choices and expanded outdoor activity opportunities throughout Brampton.
