Rowena Santos Joins Brampton’s Polish Heritage Month Celebration

BRAMPTON – The City of Brampton proudly celebrated Polish Heritage Month with a special Polish Flag Raising Ceremony and cultural celebration at Brampton City Hall and Ken Whillans Square, bringing together residents, community leaders, cultural organizations, and members of the Polish Canadian community to recognize the important contributions Polish Canadians have made to Canada’s history, culture, and identity.

The celebration, organized in partnership with the Canadian Polish Business Association, featured traditional Polish music, dance performances, cultural presentations, and authentic cuisine, reflecting the rich heritage and traditions of the Polish community.

Among the dignitaries attending the event were Rowena Santos and Paul Vicente, who joined residents in honouring the contributions of Polish Canadians to Brampton and Canada.

“Brampton is proud to celebrate the traditions and stories of all communities that make our city strong and vibrant. Polish Canadians have made outstanding contributions in many fields, and celebrations like this help strengthen understanding, unity, and appreciation among residents,” said Santos.

Regional Councillor Paul Vicente also praised the Polish community and highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

“Polish Heritage Month is an opportunity to recognize the achievements, resilience, and cultural richness of the Polish Canadian community. Brampton’s diversity continues to be one of our greatest strengths,” said Vicente.

A special recognition was also given to the historic Orlinski Museum, located at the Wawel Villa Seniors Home. Named after renowned Polish aviator Col. Boleslaw Orlinski, the museum was established to preserve the memory and legacy of Polish veterans who made Canada their home. The Museum and Archives of the Polish Armed Forces continues to serve as an important symbol of Polish Canadian history and heritage.

The celebration also included participation and support from Patrick Brown, Rod Power, Harkirat Singh, the Embassy of Poland in Ottawa, Lechowia Polish-Canadian Folk Dance Company, and Quo Vadis Choir & Camerata Ensemble.

The successful celebration once again reflected Brampton’s commitment to multiculturalism and its pride in recognizing the many communities whose traditions and stories continue to shape the city.
