Cameron Young Wins Players Championship as DeChambeau Claims LIV Golf Singapore Title

Cameron Young captured one of golf’s most prestigious titles on Sunday, winning The Players Championship with a clutch finish at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

Young sealed the victory with a precise shot to about 10 feet on the iconic island green at the 17th hole, setting up a crucial birdie. He later secured the title when England’s Matt Fitzpatrick missed an eight-foot par putt on the final hole. Young finished the tournament at 13-under-par after a final round of 4-under 68.

The win marks only the second PGA Tour victory for Cameron Young, but it is by far the biggest of his career. The Players Championship, often referred to as golf’s “fifth major,” carries one of the largest purses on the PGA Tour, with Young earning $4.5 million for the win. His victory also moves him to No. 4 in the world rankings.

Young’s performance was highlighted by a steady back nine without a bogey. He tied the lead with a birdie on the par-3 17th and followed with a massive 375-yard drive on the 18th hole — the longest ever recorded on that hole at TPC Sawgrass.

Fitzpatrick finished one shot behind after shooting a 68. Sweden’s Ludvig Åberg, who entered the final round with a three-shot lead, struggled late in the round after hitting consecutive shots into the water on the back nine and ultimately finished tied for fifth.

Meanwhile in Singapore, Bryson DeChambeau claimed victory at the LIV Golf tournament at Sentosa Golf Club after defeating Canada’s Richard T. Lee in a playoff.

Both players finished regulation play at 14-under 274 after shooting final-round scores of 66. In the playoff, Lee appeared poised to extend the contest but missed a short two-foot par putt, handing DeChambeau the victory.

The win marks DeChambeau’s fourth title in the LIV Golf League and his first victory over a 72-hole format since winning the 2024 U.S. Open.

Elsewhere in professional golf, Australian golfer Hannah Green captured the Women’s Australian Open with a one-shot victory after closing with a two-under 70. South Korea’s Jeongeun Lee6 won the Epson Tour’s IOA Golf Classic in Florida, while South Africa’s Daniel van Tonder claimed victory on the Sunshine Tour with a final-round 63.
