India Slams ‘Vandalism’ at Embassy in Croatia, Zagreb Promises Prosecutions

India on Thursday condemned what it described as an act of trespassing and vandalism at its embassy in Zagreb, saying it had raised the matter strongly with Croatia and demanded accountability for those responsible.

In a statement, India’s foreign ministry said “anti-India elements” were behind the incident at the embassy, though it did not provide further details. Indian media reported that a video circulating online appeared to show activists linked to the Khalistan movement removing the Indian flag and replacing it with a yellow banner associated with the separatist cause. The video could not be independently verified, and police and embassy officials did not immediately comment.

Croatia’s foreign ministry condemned the incident, saying its interior ministry was pursuing the perpetrators and stressing that any violation of diplomatic premises was unacceptable and contrary to international law.
