Ontario Teen Victoria Mboko Carries Canada’s Singles Hopes Into Australian Open Third Round — How to Watch Tonight

Ontario teenager Victoria Mboko will carry Canada’s last remaining singles hopes into the third round of the Australian Open on Thursday night, facing Denmark’s Clara Tauson in a primetime matchup in Melbourne. The 19-year-old Burlington native, seeded No. 17, is set to take on the No. 14 seed at John Cain Arena, with the match scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.

The contest will be broadcast live in Canada on TSN and streamed on TSN+, while fans can also watch for free on the Australian Open’s official YouTube channel. Despite facing a higher-ranked opponent, Mboko enters the match as the betting favourite after a confident start to the tournament.

Mboko reached the third round with a straight-sets win over Australia’s Emerson Jones in the opening round, followed by a comeback victory against American Caty McNally, rallying from an early deficit in the second set to close out the match. She is also still alive in women’s doubles, partnering with Iva Jovic, with a second-round match against the fourth-seeded team of Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai scheduled for Friday.

A win Thursday would send Mboko into the fourth round and keep Canada’s singles presence alive at the season’s first Grand Slam.
