Toronto police are investigating a fire at a federal government building in North York as a suspected case of arson.
According to the Toronto Police Service, first responders were called shortly after 11 a.m. Monday to the area of Yonge Street and Elmhurst Avenue. One person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said one individual was arrested in connection with the incident. No further details about the suspect or potential charges were immediately released.
The Toronto Fire Services confirmed the fire occurred at a federal government building located at 4900 Yonge Street.
According to the federal government’s website, the building houses several government offices, including a Canadian Armed Forces recruiting centre and a Service Canada centre that provides passport services.
The investigation remains ongoing.
