Police Arrest 13, Lay 156 Charges in Mississauga Break-and-Enter Crackdown

Peel Regional Police say a targeted enforcement effort has significantly reduced a surge in break-and-enters in east Mississauga, following weeks of coordinated action with local residents and business owners.

The initiative, known as Project Crackdown, was launched after investigators identified a troubling spike of nearly three break-ins per day in the area. Police say surveillance footage shared by the community played a key role in identifying suspects and linking multiple incidents.

Detectives from Peel Police’s 12 Division break-and-enter unit used crime analysis, search warrants, and community intelligence to dismantle what they described as a pattern of repeat victimization affecting both homes and businesses.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested 13 suspects, laid 156 criminal charges, and executed 14 search warrants, leading to the recovery of stolen property.

Police say the operation not only disrupted criminal activity but also helped ease fear among residents who had been repeatedly targeted.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe at home and at work,” Peel police said, adding they remain committed to identifying and stopping emerging crime trends.

Investigators are urging residents and business owners to continue reporting suspicious activity as police maintain an increased focus on crime prevention in east Mississauga.
