Caller waits 4 hours to book Mississauga community centre, councillor says

A Mississauga resident trying to book a community centre was left on hold for four hours, according to Ward 7 Councillor Dipika Damerla.

Damerla raised the issue at a recent General Committee meeting, saying her own office staff experienced the same delay when trying to book a date at a city facility. She called the situation “really not acceptable” and expressed concern that regular residents may be facing similar wait times.

She urged senior staff to consider adding a callback option to reduce wait times for residents.

Raj Sheth, Commissioner of Community Services, agreed the delays were unacceptable and confirmed his team will look into implementing a callback feature. Currently, Mississauga’s booking phone lines do not offer this option.

Demand for community centre facilities remains high across the city, with residents frequently booking venues for parties, weddings, sports, meetings, and cultural events.

Bookings can be made online or by calling 905-615-4100.
