Air Canada Announces Management Layoffs Amid Efficiency Drive

Air Canada is cutting management positions as part of a company-wide review aimed at improving efficiency and streamlining operations, the airline confirmed Thursday.

In an email to CTV News, spokesperson Christophe Hennebelle described the move as a “difficult decision” but said it followed an extensive internal review of staffing and business needs. The airline did not disclose how many positions would be eliminated but said affected employees were being notified directly.

“As a global company, Air Canada regularly reviews its resources and processes to ensure they are optimized to efficiently support business operations and its customers,” Hennebelle said. “Following an extensive review, we arrived at the difficult decision to reduce some management positions.”

The announcement comes as airlines across North America continue to adjust operations to address post-pandemic challenges, rising costs, and changing travel patterns. Air Canada emphasized that the decision is part of its ongoing efforts to maintain financial stability and enhance customer service efficiency.
