Super Pumped!’ PM Mark Carney Joins Nation in Celebrating Blue Jays’ Epic Return to the World Series

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney couldn’t hide his excitement after the Toronto Blue Jays’ thrilling 4–3 comeback victory over the Seattle Mariners that punched their ticket to the World Series for the first time since 1993.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday morning in Ottawa, Carney said he was “super pumped” after watching George Springer’s dramatic three-run homer in Game 7 — a moment that instantly became one of the most iconic in franchise history.

“It’s fantastic. I mean, Springer coming through on one knee — it was an absolutely amazing game,” Carney said with a grin. “I’m super pumped for the World Series.”

Springer, who had been hit on the knee earlier in the series, stunned fans with his late-inning blast that sealed Toronto’s American League Championship victory and sent Rogers Centre into a frenzy.

Carney revealed that during his Oval Office meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this month, he had boldly predicted the Jays would make it to the World Series — a call that proved prophetic.

The prime minister compared the emotional high of Springer’s home run to Joe Carter’s legendary walk-off shot that clinched the 1993 championship. “Oh God… just the elation of a similar home run,” he said, smiling at the memory.

The Blue Jays now prepare to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in a best-of-seven World Series starting Friday at Rogers Centre. The first two games will be played in Toronto, followed by three in Los Angeles, with the final two — if needed — back on Canadian soil.
