Eight Punjabi Men Charged as Peel–Halton Police Bust $400,000 Mail Theft Ring

A joint investigation by Peel Regional Police, Halton Regional Police, and Canada Post has led to the arrest of eight men and the recovery of more than $400,000 worth of stolen mail, dismantling what police describe as an organized mail theft ring operating across the region.

The investigation began in April 2025, after a spike in residential mail thefts across Peel Region. Working collaboratively, investigators identified a group suspected of systematically targeting community and residential mailboxes, causing significant financial losses and inconvenience for residents.

On September 8 and 9, search warrants were executed at multiple Mississauga addresses, including Rhinebank Street, Brandon Gate Drive, Dwiggin Avenue, and Kittridge Drive. The searches uncovered 465 pieces of stolen mail, including:

  • 255 cheques
  • 182 credit cards
  • 35 government-issued IDs
  • 20 gift cards

Police said the total value of the stolen mail and fraudulent instruments exceeded $400,000.

Eight men — Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Chattha, Jashandeep Jattana, Harman Singh, Jasanpreet Singh, Manroop Singh, Rajbir Singh, and Upinderjit Singh — have been charged with a combined 344 property-related offences. All appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for bail hearings.

Authorities are working with the Peel Crown Attorney’s Office and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to determine whether removal proceedings will be pursued for any of the accused who are foreign nationals.

Police are urging anyone with information related to this investigation to contact the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 2133, or provide tips anonymously through Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or peelcrimestoppers.ca.
