Stabbing Suspect Arrested in Brampton Transit Bus Incident

Region of Peel – Investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau have arrested and charged an individual in connection with a stabbing that took place aboard a Brampton transit bus earlier this month.

On October 1, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., an altercation between two males occurred on a Brampton transit bus near Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive. The victim, a man in his 20s, was approached by the suspect, leading to a physical confrontation. During the altercation, the suspect attacked the victim with an edged weapon, stabbing him multiple times.

The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. The suspect, who was not known to the victim, fled the area on foot.

Following an intensive investigation, police identified Harpreet Singh, a 31-year-old man from Brampton, as the suspect. On October 4, Singh was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Attempt Murder
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Weapons Dangerous
  • Breach of Court Order

He was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. At the time of the offence, the accused was already out on bail for unrelated charges.

Investigators have confirmed that the accused acted alone and that there are no further public safety concerns related to this incident.
