BRAMPTON — With Canada Post workers on strike and mail delivery disrupted across Ontario, the City of Brampton is reminding residents that property taxes, speeding fines, parking tickets, and other payments remain due despite the postal service interruption.
The strike has temporarily halted the city’s ability to receive mailed payments. As a result, residents are being urged to use alternative payment options to avoid penalties or late fees. In-person payments can be made at Brampton City Hall, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. Online payments may be submitted at www.paytickets.ca, and phone payments are available by calling 905-874-2404.
To ensure timely delivery of essential notices, overdue property tax statements and supplementary bills will be issued through courier services during the strike. Speeding tickets and other enforcement notices will also be served via alternative couriers.
Brampton Animal Services has confirmed that pet licence renewal notices will not be mailed during the strike. Instead, residents who purchased their pet licence online will receive reminders by email, and some may also get phone call reminders. The city stresses that reminders are only a courtesy, and all pet owners remain responsible for keeping their licences valid. Renewals can be completed online.
Courts and Administrative Services are also affected. Scheduling of early resolutions and trials has been paused, and notices will not be sent during the strike. However, the city emphasized that residents remain responsible for paying fines and penalties by their due dates for both Provincial Offences and Administrative Penalties.
