Brampton Launches Small Business Month with Free Workshops and Support for Entrepreneurs

BRAMPTON, ON – The City of Brampton is celebrating Small Business Month this October by spotlighting the critical role entrepreneurs play in fueling innovation, creating jobs, and strengthening the local economy. With more than 110,000 businesses operating in Brampton—90 per cent of them small enterprises—the city is rolling out a month-long lineup of free workshops, mentorship opportunities, networking events, and online learning sessions tailored to support business owners at every stage of growth.

The Brampton Entrepreneur Centre (BEC), part of the City’s Economic Development Office, will deliver programming focused on key areas such as business fundamentals for startups, marketing essentials, and global growth strategies. Sessions will cover everything from tax obligations, funding programs, and AI for startups, to branding, social media, and eCommerce. Business owners will also have opportunities to connect through networking events, including the popular Brampton Ignite, while the Go Global webinar series will help entrepreneurs explore international markets amid ongoing tariff challenges.

The city has also extended BEC office hours throughout the week, giving entrepreneurs more access to mentorship, workspace, and resources. Officials say the initiative reflects Brampton’s ongoing commitment to empowering its business community, celebrating the resilience and creativity of small business owners, and driving long-term economic development.

Mayor Patrick Brown praised the initiative, saying, “Small businesses are essential to Brampton’s economy, driving innovation, creating jobs and strengthening our community. During Small Business Month, we celebrate the dedication and achievements of our local entrepreneurs and encourage them to take advantage of the resources and programs offered through the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre and the City’s Economic Development Office.”

Regional Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor, Chair of Economic Development, emphasized the importance of targeted support, adding, “Through workshops and mentorship, the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre empowers business owners to tackle challenges and seize growth opportunities.” Vice-Chair Rowena Santos called small businesses “the heart of our communities,” while Denise McClure, Director of Economic Development, noted the city’s focus on providing meaningful guidance and resources to help entrepreneurs thrive.
