Inderjeet Singh Gosal Released on Bail in Canada, Issues Threat Against India’s NSA Ajit Doval

Inderjeet Singh Gosal, a close aide of banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, has been released on bail in Canada just days after his arrest on multiple firearm-related charges. His release has sparked fresh controversy after he and Pannun issued direct threats aimed at India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

In a video following his release from Ontario Central East Correctional Centre, Gosal declared: “India, I’m out; to support Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, to organise the Khalistan referendum on November 23, 2025. Delhi banega Khalistan.”

Pannun, in a separate message, challenged India’s NSA directly: “Ajit Doval, why don’t you come to Canada, America or any European country and try to arrest or do any extradition. Doval, I am waiting for you.”

Gosal was arrested on September 19 in Ontario alongside Jagdeep Singh from New York and Arman Singh from Toronto. They were charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carrying a concealed weapon, among other offences. Canadian authorities confirmed the trio appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa earlier this week.

Despite these charges, Gosal was granted bail on September 25. This is not his first swift release; in November 2024 he was arrested by Peel Regional Police following a violent altercation at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, only to be immediately bailed.

Gosal assumed a central role within SFJ operations in Canada after the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in 2023. His repeated releases have raised questions about Canada’s handling of extremist elements and whether these arrests reflect genuine enforcement or symbolic measures.

India-Canada relations, already strained in past years over Ottawa’s perceived leniency toward separatist networks, are currently being recalibrated under new Canadian leadership. However, the quick bail granted in this case risks undermining those efforts and deepening mistrust.
