2025 Emmys Tonight: ‘Severance,’ ‘The White Lotus’ and ‘The Penguin’ Dominate Nominations — Here’s How to Watch in Ontario

The 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards will air live tonight, Sunday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles — and Ontario viewers can tune in on CTV or stream via the CTV app. A red carpet special hosted by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner kicks things off at 7 p.m.

Comedian Nate Bargatze will host the ceremony for the first time, with some of the biggest names in TV vying for the industry’s top honours. Apple TV+’s Severance leads this year’s pack with an impressive 27 nominations, followed by HBO’s gritty Batman spinoff The Penguin with 24 nods and The White Lotus with 23.

Notable nominations include:

  • Outstanding Drama Series: Severance, The White Lotus, The Last of Us, Slow Horses, Paradise, The Diplomat, The Pitt, and Andor.
  • Outstanding Comedy Series: Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Shrinking, The Studio, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, and What We Do in the Shadows.
  • Outstanding Limited Series: The Penguin, Black Mirror, Adolescence, Dying for Sex, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

Canada will be well represented on TV’s biggest night. Seth Rogen is up for three awards for his performance in The Studio, while Catherine O’Hara earned two nominations, including for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Martin Short is competing for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Only Murders in the Building, and Nathan Fielder received a nomination for his work on HBO’s The Rehearsal.

With Severance and The Penguin expected to dominate many of the night’s major categories, the 2025 Emmys could bring a mix of first-time winners and repeat champions — and plenty of drama for fans of prestige TV.
