The Powerball jackpot has ballooned to an estimated $1.1 billion after no winning ticket was sold in Saturday’s drawing, making Monday’s Labor Day prize the fifth-largest in the game’s history.
Saturday’s draw produced the numbers 3, 18, 22, 27, 33 and red Powerball 17, with a Power Play multiplier of 3. But with no ticket matching all six, the jackpot rolled over once again.
Players now have a chance at a life-changing prize when numbers are drawn Monday night. The winner can either take the full annuity of $1.1 billion, spread over 30 years with annual increases of 5%, or opt for a one-time cash payout of $498.4 million before taxes.
“The nation has waited all year for the chance to play for a billion-dollar jackpot,” said Matt Strawn, chair of the Powerball Product Group and CEO of the Iowa Lottery.
This upcoming draw will mark the 40th since the jackpot was last won on May 31 in California. The record jackpot remains $2.04 billion, also won in California in November 2022. The longest streak without a jackpot winner was 42 consecutive drawings, set in April 2024.
Powerball tickets, priced at $2, are available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. With odds of one in 292.2 million, the dream of instant fortune may be remote—but that isn’t stopping millions from lining up for a shot at the billion-dollar prize.
