Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), led by Chairman Mukesh Ambani, has unveiled its boldest move yet in artificial intelligence with the creation of a new subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence, announced at the company’s annual general meeting (AGM).
The new arm will spearhead Reliance’s AI strategy with four core objectives:
- Building next-generation, gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centres powered by green energy.
- Hosting global partnerships to expand AI access.
- Developing AI services tailored for India.
- Creating a national AI talent pool.
Ambani said the initiative would “democratize access to AI and superintelligence” while reinforcing India’s role in the global technology landscape.
Global collaborations: Reliance has struck major alliances to accelerate its AI roadmap. With Meta, it will provide open-source AI models to Indian enterprises, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg described as “a key step towards ensuring AI access for everyone.” In addition, a new Google Cloud region will be established in Jamnagar, expanding India’s cloud infrastructure backbone.
New products: The AGM also saw the launch of Jio high-performance PCs that transform any TV or screen into an AI-ready desktop, pushing computing deeper into Indian households. Reliance also introduced Riya, a voice-enabled AI search assistant integrated into its JioStar entertainment platform.
Telecom momentum and IPO plans: Ambani confirmed that Reliance Jio now serves over 500 million customers. He further announced plans for a Jio IPO in the first half of 2026, expected to raise up to ₹52,000 crore, which could mark India’s largest-ever public offering.
Ambani emphasized that Reliance Intelligence will play a pivotal role in shaping India’s digital and AI-driven future, making advanced computing power accessible to businesses, homes, and individuals across the country.
