Ajax Seeks Public Feedback on Bold Redevelopment Vision for GO Station Lands

The Town of Ajax is inviting residents to help shape the future of the area around the Ajax GO Station, with a new land use study aiming to transform the surrounding industrial lands into a vibrant, transit-oriented community.

Located near Westney Road and Highway 401, the GO Station is designated as a Major Transit Area, identified as central to accommodating future growth and intensification in the town. Ajax officials say the goal is to guide development in a way that supports high-quality, compact, mixed-use projects while maximizing current and future transit infrastructure.

The ongoing Ajax GO Station Secondary Plan will outline preferred land uses for the area. The Primary Study Area encompasses an 800-metre radius (roughly a 10-minute walk) around the station. An Expanded Study Area, extending an additional 300 to 700 metres, is also under review to assess issues like land use compatibility, transportation connections, and access to community services.

Residents are encouraged to take part in shaping the plan by completing an online survey available at imo.ajax.ca/gostationplan/surveys/gostationplansurvey. The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 5.
