Oakville, ON – An 18-year-old driver is facing stunt driving charges after being caught travelling at an alarming 214 kilometres per hour on the Queen Elizabeth Way near Oakville. According to a statement posted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on social media Wednesday morning, the teen attempted to engage an officer in a high-speed race before being pulled over.
The vehicle, which police say belonged to the teen’s father, was travelling in a posted 100 km/h zone when the excessive speed was recorded. Following the incident, the driver’s licence was immediately suspended and the car was impounded for 14 days under Ontario’s stunt driving laws.
The OPP shared an image of the vehicle being towed from the roadside, serving as a visual reminder of the serious consequences associated with reckless driving. This incident adds to growing concerns about dangerous driving behaviour among young motorists across the Greater Toronto Area.
The OPP continues to remind all drivers that street racing, excessive speeding, and other forms of stunt driving are not only illegal but put lives at serious risk.
