Canadian hockey legend Don Cherry has officially signed off from the broadcasting world, delivering a heartfelt farewell to fans during what he confirmed would be the final episode of his podcast.
Cherry, 91, ended the June 23 episode of The Grapevine—the show he co-hosted with his son Tim—by thanking his millions of loyal listeners. “Well, Tim, this is our last show,” Cherry said, before ending with his trademark sign-off: “Thanks, everybody for listening, and toodaloo.”
Since launching The Grapevine in 2019, Cherry’s podcast amassed an impressive 6.5 million listens. The show became a space for the former Hockey Night in Canada personality to continue sharing his candid takes on the game he loves, following his departure from television due to controversial remarks that drew widespread criticism.
Known for his flamboyant suits, fierce patriotism, and no-holds-barred commentary, Cherry remained a beloved and polarizing figure in Canadian sports. His influence spanned generations of fans, players, and critics alike.
Though he leaves behind the microphone, Don Cherry’s voice has left an indelible mark on Canadian hockey culture—fiery, unapologetic, and undeniably iconic.
