This important event was attended by Mayor Patrick Brown, Regional Councillors Rowena Santos and Paul Vicente, Councillors Rod Power, Navjot Brar, and Binu Saradakutty, Coordinator of Community Development, City of Brampton. Former six-time MP Gurbax Malhi was also in attendance, highlighting the significance of this collective effort.

Recognizing the Day and the Vision

In her opening remarks, Regional Councillor Rowena Santos emphasized the significance of the day. “The launch of the Brampton Older Adult Alliance marks a new chapter in how we serve and empower our senior community. This umbrella organization not only allows for stronger collaboration but ensures our older adults are heard, respected, and engaged in shaping our city.”

Binu Saradakutty, Coordinator, Community Development, presented a comprehensive overview of the city’s services for seniors, the affiliation and renewal process, and addressed seniors’ questions during a detailed and thoughtful Q&A session, bringing clarity and assurance to those in attendance.

A Driving Force: Paul Vicente

Regional Councillor Paul Vicente was recognized as the key driving force behind the formation of the Brampton Older Adult Alliance. His consistent efforts, in close collaboration with Mayor Brown, ensured the successful launch of this much-needed organization.

“I am proud to have worked alongside Mayor Brown to bring this vision to reality,” said Vicente. “The Brampton Older Adult Alliance is here to uplift the voices of seniors, ensure their concerns are addressed, and that they continue to thrive in our city with the support they deserve.”
